Athletes for Africa

Thanks to internet addicted athletes I usually have an idea of what the team are up to in between races. But not always. I recieved a mail from Rebekah Keat 'Bek' the other day and I found myself reading up about this great NonProfit Organization, Athletes For Africa.

"Athletes for Africa is a nonprofit organization that uses the power and profile of sport to promote global citizenship and empower the next generation of youth in Africa. By raising funds and increasing awareness, A4A supports local programs that strengthen communities, provide education and foster skills development."

Basically you do not have to be a pro athlete to start a campaign anyone can do it. Bek has started a campaign and you can see how to sponsor her here.

Small actions by lots of individuals when added up have a great impact and power to help others less fortunate than ourselves. And in this day and age of FB and mobile web updates the domino effect of spreading awareness is super fast :)
