The Swim
When you do more you have got to do more.
It amazes me how many of you guys do 2 and 3km sessions 2 or 3 times a week and when I ask how far do you race, everybody says 3.8km so how does a 2km session correlate to this?
Here is a little science for you to help. Let’s just say we take one stroke per metre so that’s 3,800 strokes so if we practice 2000m that’s 2,000 stroke.
But is it?
We do warm up, some drills, a little bit of a kick set and maybe some other strokes and when we peel it all back there is the real swim 8x100 or 4x 200.
So,
we practice 800 strokes with lots of breaks over an hour some an hour 30 minutes but we go into the gym 3 times a week and do 5 sets of 15 or if we do aerobic musculation we do, wait for it, 3 set of 25 strokes or lifts.
Hope this helps show you where you can find minutes on the swim because it’s as easy as doing the math.
They just don’t print it in tri mags.
Sad.
