I would say that whatever comes easiest and most natural is probably best.
When you are going hard, you don't want to be thinking about how to breath.
I think just get the air in the lungs the easiest way possible is best.

The kickstarter thing sounds like a great idea.
I am sure lots of people would be happy to put money in that way.
I certainly would.
Great interview by the way. Brett cuts through the crap and tells it how it is, as always. And Bevan and John do a great job with there show too. Well done!

The T shirt on the run is very helpful. It not only covers up your shoulders from the sun, but as it is a cotton T-Shirt it holds the water onto your body for longer and this helps cooling on hot days enormously.
Lanzarote is a very tough bike course especially when the wind blows. Keeping positive in the head wind sections is important as it can be very hard work.
After Mirador del rio usually it is a tail wind and less hilly, but you still need some energy left for the climb up from Tahiche and then back up to above Puerto del Carmen, I would recommend riding easy the last 15km, as it is mostly down hill and you won't lose too much time. Make sure you are ready to start the run. Hydrated is most important.
Take the the transition steady and the first part of the run steady. Just work your way into the run and eat and drink little and often.
Enjoy the whole day and the massive challenge that IM Lanzarote is and you will have a great day.
See you in May. Stephen
Bella may have some more helpful hints that I have forgot:)

Oh Fegan, you can't say that Croydon has lots of attractions. If you are lucky you might get to experience a riot, they can happen at anytime of the day. Also Croydon is the home of Crystal Palace football club. Now that is a good reason to visit, well it used to be!

You should also visit Croydon. Just a few miles south of London City. If you get to the amazing Croydon, you should visit the famous and brilliant Whitgift center for all your shopping needs. You could also visit Purley, just a bit further south, and visit the childhood home of Stephen Bayliss

Thanks for the info John.
That is interesting about Alf Engers. I remember reading stories about him in Cycling Weekly years ago. He was a tough one!
