Well yesterday we (Aussies) lost 50% of our TDF riders in one stage - so a good day out in the mountains for the Aussie assult, NOT!
I will give my number 1 choice to Cadel Evans, but my second choice of Christophe Moreau as he looks fairly strong to me and he is French.

Just a word of warning. If you so happen to feel like some baked beans whilst in Leysin - stay away!!
Belinda and I are currently locked into a fartathon. Sorry that you are living next door Steve and Bella! Yes that is the smell!!
I dont know if it is the altitude or simply the swiss variety of beans - but man we both gave the world record a nudge over the last 20 or so hours. I kept myself awake all last night.
doing my bit to destroy the ozone layer....Juzzie.

General Category / General Discussion / TDF Eurosport UK commentators - too much waffle!!

OK - so I luv me cycling, but watching Eurosport with the TDF going thru London - the UK commentators are driving me nuts. The pro British rider crap that I hear dribbling out of their mouths, it is jinxing the poor British riders. Come to think of it the golden league athletics is just the same!! Hey I was born in the UK, so I have nothing against the poms. But I have a solution - today I switched the channel to the French coverage, of which I cannot understand a word! Sad really (or embarrassing) since I have a French passport too!! Besides when in the same room watching TV with Belinda, she provides non stop Commentry.
Juzzie.

I know many athletes get in some cal's thru fluid - a carbo drink on the bike. I like to take in some type of real food also - to break up the overload of powergel and powerbars. Something like a few cookies, a jam sambo or a banana.
Most important advice is to train on what you plan to use on race day. Just to see how your body takes it.

I (a he) didnt know that the Gp4000 came in a Tub - blink and you miss the launch of a new product these days. A very competitive market.
Belinda uses Vittoria and races on the Corsa Evo KX. Seems to be quick, light and strong/tough.

The Competition 22mm is a tubular - top of the line. The GP4000 is a clincher, nice but not my choice to race on (I still thinks tubs are faster than Clinchers). I am not too sure about the details on the new Triathlon tyre, I have seen the magazine ads but the old school best would have to be a comp 22. Good enough for Jan (was!!!)
Wilfried is a nice man and it was good working with him when I was in that industry. He has been at Conti for a long time now, he has a strong Germany work ethic.

Havent used or seen them yet - but Conti have a new version of their Comp 22 tubular. It is not sewn together like tubulars are but vulcanised (glued). This, I would imagine, would make for a very smooth ride without high spots or wobbles. The new breaker strip (internal puncture protection strip) is much better also - lighter and stronger than before. Should be on the market soon - esp in Europe.
