General Category / General Discussion / Re: Problem with gas during and after swimming

I think you'll find that Zach's advice to try not breathe in as much air will not exactly aid in your swimming... Air is essential Zach! (I think he meant don't swallow so much air...) I used to have this problem too, where my stomach would go into knots and cramp during and after swimming due to all the gas. I stopped drinking during my sessions (even before Doc made it a rule) and haven't had the problem since. If you already don't drink during sessions, then I would agree with Bella that it is something you are eating or drinking before sessions which is causing the issues.

Hi Rob, I think the reason you see no traffic in the photos is cos when there was no traffic was the only time I could take photos while riding (don't try this at home kids!). They certainly do have traffic here, and it is a LOT more erratic than PE! (I sometimes wonder why they bother painting lines on the road...) However the drivers here are much more curtious in general and you can actually ride without thinking about traffic for the most part - you are seen as an equal road-user, unlike in SA! Looking forward to the big day on 5 April - back in PE in 2 weeks. You guys just make sure the SE wind has blown itself out before the race day...

Doc had a good go at us in the pool today. Seems some people were not following instructions very well... tut tut But as everyone here knows, Doc only has our best interests at heart, which it reminded me of a little story I heard on a movie recently (actually the movie wasn't recent at all - 10 points if you know it!): One day a little swallow was flying south for the winter when a big storm swept him up and sent him into the freezing high altitude air, freezing his little wings solid. Unable to fly, he plummeted to the ground and landed in a field, frozen stiff. A cow came by and walked right over him, dropping a large pile of dung right on his head. The warm steamy turd defrosted the swallow and revived him. He was so happy that he began to sing. A nearby cat heard the singing, pulled the little swallow out of the turd, cleaned him off, ...and ate him. The moral of the story: Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy, and not every one who gets you out of shit is your friend. And if you find yourself somewhere warm and comfortable, wherever you may be, just keep your big mouth shut and enjoy it!

I'll second your motion Rebekah! I arrived and was without wheels for a few days - but it was worth the wait! My new bike feels awesome! I pretty much nailed the setup on the first ride (although looking forward to the Oval bars still) and immediately felt powerful and smooth. Cervelo has its great reputation for a very good reason!

I agree that the prize money is a joke.
But even if pros boycotted a race or races, do you actually think that would stop AGers entering?
Certainly the AGers would still particpate, but if the Pro's were organised enough to boycott a certain few races, then those races would not get the media coverage they currently receive, which would hurt the race organiser in the long run. If all the pro's boycotted a certain event, there would be no juicy media stories around the race (except the one about the pro's boycotting it!) and the following year that race will feel the effects... And the year after that, the organiser would wake up and offer some decent prize money... If a race gets an image as 'only for AGers' it will not be successful for long. Spectators (at the event or on TV) only watch the pointy end of the race, or their own family members. Limit the spectator pool to only the interested family members, and your event sponsors will not get the same coverage for their spend... No sponsors, means no race. Pro's have influence, but first we must be organised...

A man was out jogging in the forest one day when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me I'll turn into a beautiful princess." He bent over, picked up the frog, and put it in his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will tell everyone how smart and brave you are and how you are my hero." The man took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it, and returned it to his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I'll stay with you for a year and do ANYTHING you want." Again the man took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it, and put it back into his pocket. Finally the frog asked, "What's the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess, that I'll stay with you for a year and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?" The man replied, "Look, I'm a Triathlete. I don't have time for a girlfriend, but having a talking frog is cool!"
