I have a question re swimming. When swimming in the sea I do not kick or there is minimal kicking, surely then the pool sessions should be more pool buoy swimming or paddles and pool buoy? The wetsuit replaces my pool buoy .
Or is drill work and sessions with fins on a necessity?

General Category / General Discussion / Training, How much?

How much training is needed for full? I currently have a training programe from a coach. A fellow training bud using a different training coach seems to think my sessions are not enough or rather the frequency.
My sessions are as follows at the moment: Mondays: 50k cycle (recovery), 3k pool swim, Tuesday: 18k long run, Wednesday: 50k cycle (4 hills and drills), 3k pool swim, Thursday: 10k run and some gym work, Friday: 110k long cycle depending on sea conditions a 1.5k seaswim, Saturdays are off days due to the fact that I have 2 young children and need time at home with them and husband. Sundays are either 2 or 3k seaswim race or Olympic tri race (new at this one).
Please bear in mind that these distance will be increasing in the following 12 week till race day.
So my question is having only the mornings to train should I be putting in more swims, cycles or runs along the way as my friend has some days with running or cycling 2 days in a row and apparently he has been told this has more impact. ??

Ok I would like to ask a question on the Ironman nutrition or rather an opnion. Infinite Drink?? One is supposed to only use the Infinite custom blend and not need to eat at all. Has anyone had experience with this doing a 1/2 or full ironman or just plain have an opinion on the issue. Thanks guys

Hi, I wonder if someone could help with my question re being able to swim in the pool but when it comes to seaswim I am so slow even the kiddies come out before me. OK maybe not that bad I am frustrated, I have a swim coach who just keeps saying it will come. HELLO I dont have time I have entered my first every 70.3 in East London in 8 weeks time. I don't have time for it to come. Some say a higher cadence in the sea, strong pull - hit the gym. Hmm so what do? I have 3 pools session with a coach that include drills etc and the distance is 3km, one open water swim that is supposed to be 2km but I have only managed 1km swim in a race enviroment and 1.5km with flippers on seeing if that could help with the confidence.
ANY suggestions are worth a try, OH yes, 1 year ago I could not swim 25m so I don't have a swimming back ground.
Thanks
