Thanks for the reply Matt....

Yes, I got the impression that by buying into the Kenyan culture and by not imposing too much from the "Developed" world that he has been far more successful than someone using a more rigid approach.

He also made it pretty clear that when he started he knew somewhere between very little and nothing and gradually built up his knowledge with his own on the job training.
I was also impressed by the simplicity of it all.....there seemed to be no special secret, just basics done very well.

Think I'm going to buy myself "Running with the Kenyans" by Adharanand Finn for my birthday as oit looks like a good read.

Iten looks like a very special place....who wouldn't want to put a pair of training shoes on out there with such a fab running culture.

Thanks again....

Hi Matt,

Just wondered if during your time in Kenya if you bumped into Brother Colm O'Connell?

What an interesting guy and so inspirational for all sorts of different reasons

He was also involved (with his father) in training greyhounds when he was younger.....now that seems to ring a bell somewhere

Cheers...

Congratulations CV, great work......to come 4th in your AG in your first tri is pretty awesome!!!

As a slight aside, I'm curious how someone can post well over 100 times on this site without having completed a tri before.....I was just wondering what drew you to the site in the first place.

Do you work for Cervelo or something got sucked in through the team sponsorship? If so it was well worth it I think.

Congrats again.....just get signed up for that second race now   Wink
