Vista pedals

Hi bella,
understand that you are one of the users of the visa pedals. I believe you have used the conventional pedals before moving on the vista pedals with stephen. Could you provide a product review of the vista pedals and what are the pros and cons in terms of performance and practicality when swopping over to this new set of pedals.
Are there anyone in the team using the same set of pedals also?
Thanks in advance for the information.
cheers,
yf

Hi yf
ThankYou for your message,
You are right, I have used Vista Pedals for over 2 years now and I like them very much. I have won 6 Ironmans and a 70.3 on them in this time!
My coach told me to use them because he said they would enhance my style of riding. I like to grind fairly big gears! I also had a hamstring problem at that time and my coach told me that using these pedals would help me.
Using these pedals does feel a bit different to other pedals, as they set each foot about 5mm further apart than normal pedals.
I dont think anyone else in the Team are using them. Hillary Biscay used to use them but she is no longer on with TeamTBB.
Thanks for your interest,
Bella

Hi bella,
thanks for the prompt reply.
From the outlook of the pedals, it seems that it would be rather hard to mount onto the pedals esp when you are training in the urban area, somewhere like Singapore. Did u encounter any problem with getting used to the new pedals esp when you first started using them considering that the clipping in mechanism is quite different from the typical shimano or look pedal.
After reading much about the pedals, i feel that the pedals seems to be what i am looking for in terms of giving you extra leverage when you are a grinder on the bike. I am just concern with the engagement, i stays in Singapore, and riding round on the island can be quite a pain when it comes to engaging and disengaging the pedals.
And of cos, i am aware of your ironman wins this past year. Impressive results and i have got to congratulate you. Your performance at South Africa and the finish with you and your husband was just magical.
I might just give the pedals a short to see if they work for me...at least getting me faster on the bike.
Have a good 2009 ahead!
Cheers,
yf

Hi yf!
ThankYou for your kind words!
Yes, these pedals do take a bit of getting used to! Sometimes they are difficult to clip in and out. You can fiddle with the tension of the pedal a bit, that can help you get in and out.
I actually dont think about it anymore, but if I am having problems, I get Stephen to take a look at the tension!
They are definatly worth a go!
See you at the races!
Bella
