Thought i would share a classic quote from NZ's greatest swim coach, Duncan Laing, read it on plane home yesterday, i thought it was pretty good. It is in reference to one of his charges complaining about the training for the day
"Boy, if you die today, i will come to your funeral'

a quote by another great coach who happens to coach teamtbb, said on the track when I was so tired that I wasn't sure I could even keep running without just collapsing: "I will catch you if you fall" I thought of it when I was on the other side of the track...

There was an old coach I worked with one week up in Red Deer, CA. He told me very simply that Ironman is for iron men. More often than not that quote pops into my head on days when the going gets tough. Then there was his story about milk and pigs amongst others but I digress....

Adolph Rupp, Hall of Fame basketball coach for Kentucky, used to say, "Coaching is the art of making athletes behave like thoroughbreds. When you call upon a thoroughbred it gives you all its heart and sinew; when you call upon a jackass it kicks." This qoute reminds me of another coach David

There is one man, an american football coach in the 60's who was a quote producing machine, sure you'll all peg who it is pretty quick, I have just picked one of his classics: "Gentlemen, we are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence. I am not remotely interested in just being good." For those that like quotes, this is a great source... http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Main_Page

Call me hokey... but Mr. Miyagi from the Karate Kid:
"We make sacred pact. I promise teach karate to you, you promise learn. I say, you do, no questions. "
"Lesson not just karate only. Lesson for whole life. Whole life have a balance. Everything be better. Understand? "
"Wax on, right hand. Wax off, left hand. Wax on, wax off. Breathe in through nose, out the mouth. Wax on, wax off. Don't forget to breathe, very important. "

Quoting from the movie the Karate Kid, it's only a matter of time before Beck chimes in now. You can bet she'll know every relevant quote ever made in a teen movie.
Oops, forgot to throw in my quote. I had a coach that always said, "Soreness is weakness leaving the body."
