Hey Hiro, nearly time for Ironman Japan!!!
I've got some questions and thought you'd be the samari to ask.

What is the training like there? Do they have a pool there? What day will you be arriving in Goto Island and what is ANA like to fly with bikes as I'm doing the little flight from fukuoka to goto with them?

Friends of mine said you took them on a training ride in Japan last year or the year before, the day or two before an itu race and they said you crashed and broke your bike and they felt bad for you seen as you were only being their guide. They had only good words to say about you.

Cheers Cam.....

Hi Cam,
Sorry, I have missed the your message...
Yes, there is a indoor swimming pool at near swim start area.
The start area is different from the finish.
It's about 15 to 20km from the city.
I think you will stay in Fukue city.
We go the pool by bike, car, or bus.
Or we swim on the course.

We are going Goto on Thursday.
We will rent a car, so we can take there after Thursday.

I think you can fly to Goto with your bike.
The airplane is small but the flight will not be full on Monday so you can bring bike.

I took some Auzzie guyes for training ride but I crashed and broak rear derailleur.
I could not ride so they pushed me...
I think it was hard for them before the ITU race Embarrassed

Thanks Hiro, be great to catch up over there, and you can show me the best sushi in town!!!!
but we better not ride together pre race seen as your track record staying upright with aussie's isn't good Wink

Your welcome.
Goto island is small city but there are many shops and restauraunt.
Of course you can eat Sushi and Sashimi.
Also I recommend Chan-pon noodle.
You can eat around Nagasaki area, it's in Goto too.

Cam, you'll easily be able to get your bike on the ANA flights since they are a sponsor of the race.
I also do believe that they will waive any bike fees at the airport...

Just leave your C02 canisters at home, because they will take them away at the airport!

I swam at the pool that Hiro mentioned and its right on the road where the start of the bike course will be.
But its a bit of a way out of the city where all the registration and other stuff goes on...
Not very busy...
