yes I know I need to win Undecided thinking of a good format, maybe a drafting triple sprint? Roll Eyes with double run distance and half the swim distance...
it wasn't so fair 11 years ago either, you were beating a 16year old, being sooo much older yourself Angry

mel was 4th in 98. 3rd 97, 2nd 2000. she didn't start 99, we went to chicago 2 weeks out and she got flu on plane over so didn't start, then we went to ottawa canada for the 2weeks before and she was sick the whole time, so the reserve took her spot. i did chicago and was smashing it but got a flat at 30k and so had to ride it on the rim the rest of the ride, was so devastated, first overseas trip just for that to happen.
then in montreal, me and luke harrop did this race the same day as worlds and was the weirdest thing ever, we got to transition the morning of race having racked our bikes the afternoon before but our bikes were gone!!! we looked all over and pretty much conceeded that they were stolen, mine was nothing special but luke's of course was beatiful colnago C40 with all the best bits, anyway we were both spewing running around frantic trying to find our bikes amongst the 2000 odd others when with about 5min to go we found em randomly racked in the world champs transition area, someone moved them on us,  so we bolted over with them and sprinted down to the start only for the gun to go off before we got there so we jumped in and tried to swim around the entire race...luke did a good job and think he came top 5 by the end and I didn't go so well. We were pretty cranky after the race, but a few hours later all forgotten when Lorreta became WORLD CHAMPION!!!!

hey Cam, yes you mean Simone Aschwanden. We were both terrible swimmers, got out 5th last in our first European Champs but rode together and then ran together and overtook a lot of athletes! we even crossed the finish line together as a little joke, but they didn't want to give us the same placing... Roll Eyes
Simone had a bad accident with a car involved on a Swiss race and since then had some injury problems, she never raced worlds.
Haha, Montreal was a weird race, I can still remember the crazy mens race, I think half of the top then were vomiting after the finish line Shocked me as a junior being very impressed of course that you can exhaust yourself so much Roll Eyes
yes I was always fighting the Australians at Worlds from 98 to 2001, it was always the same game... the four starting Australians, no matter who of them started, were out of the water first together with Annelise Heard, with a huge gap! No way to catch them on the bike, but I tried to run as much of them down as I could in the end Wink

in 2001
the swiss miss had her revenge  and it was back in canada .
she was just too hot for  the aussies there .
and then ole docs squad pulled a little suprise , by entering the "bad swimming sir lindley in the aquathon world champs
and she nailed that , and so all the girls would know in the senior race ole doc had fixed siris swim dramas
so look the f... out on sunday .
siri  went on to drop michellie in the first km and just kept going .
the aussies  got  their arses handed to em in both
womens races .
hard to seperate who looked the happiest though , because the swiss miss  looked very happy but
i could sence  it was more relieved .
siri just wet herself   as per normal . Grin

Oh old girls now really!! Embarrassed hihihi. I hope you get revenge Nicola. I always knew you were there and always knew you could run. there was no way we were up to your standard of running so we HAD to swim and bike fast. I loved the Lausanne worlds course. I went shithouse, but it was a fantastic challenging course. oh makes me miss triathlon. hihi
