Hi Bek,

this is my first post here.  Smiley

Big congrats for being 1st woman from this planet in Roth!

In german TV I saw you having a problem with your bike and the Mavic-Service was unable to help you with that.
The commentator was talking about your chain beeing too short. Huh
Can't really believe that - especially because he also talked some other rubbish.
The worst was, he (or a collegue) told Chrissie on the bike, that she was 9 minutes behind(!) her last year's record.
But in fact she always was ahead of it! Probably she only went THAT fast, to get those 9 minutes back!  Wink

So, could you please explain your bike problem and how much time it may have cost you?
And can you give an estimate, how much faster you might have been, if you had more pressure from behind you?

Thanks
Jost from Germany, who was in the same fantastic race

WOW...what an awesome race. My girlfriend participated in that race too. It was her first IronMan and seeing all you professional athletes...wow...words are missing right now to describe it. I was watching the entire race from the sidelines, cheering you all on.

CONGRATS TO YOUR 2nd PLACE!!!! I am reading your blog regularly and I really like your style, wit and sometimes funny posts. Keep 'em coming. Cheesy

Greetings from Austria

Hi Guys...i had some issue with my rear part of my bike,i thought it felt like the chain was too tight or one of the links was rubbing. But i didnt know what it was as neither myelf or the mechanic could see anything wrong. The mavic guy couldnt help me but it felt terrible on the first lap of the bike so after stopping and straightening my wheel it seemed ok and i stopped again to let the mavic guy check it and he said it seemed ok.We noticed after the race it was actually the rear hub that had a problem and i might need new bearings so that may have been the issue!I probobly only stopped for less than a minute both times but total of around 2/3 once i got going...def not 30 minutes which i lost to CW.
I do think how ever they need to get rif of the lead motor bikes and cameras. On the second lap of the bike when the age groupers are all there the pro athlets must move around them thus crossing onto the other side or riding way over to the left side which is right where the mtorbikes sit.I had a camera there afew times and it certainly made a huge difference perhaps 3/4km/hr to my speed when there was a side or head wind ...which is frustrating when the lead athletes have this almost the whole race.

Big congrats for being 1st woman from this planet in Roth!

This is exactly why nobody beats Wellington.  Because everybody thinks she is unbeatable and, mentally, when the race starts they already lost to her.

I really think Becks, Mirinda and maybe Dibbens can beat her if they really focus on it without distractions.

Simple answer to that, Bek: get to the front and stay there! And, yes, I think you've got the ability to do it.

gee running geek ,
you wont win any popularity prize , by stating the obvious to bek .
but to do that ,you cant look for a pair of feet so some one else does the swim for you ,
so we will need to find some other way , or just keep complaining .
