Watched the race yesterday on TV, pity they cocked up some of the names (e.g. James Cunnarma and Erica Csmore). Nice interviews though! Looks like it is more suited to mountain goats than triathletes, but I suppose that is one of the things that makes it fun! Looks like it will be worth a trip some time...
A question though: they said this was only the 4th Alpe tri, but I remember a tri being held there in the 90s. Is this a revival of that race, or is this a new monster altogether?
For those who have DSTV, it is on SuperSport over the next couple of days, the program is "Mass Participation Sports".

hi damien , the reason we go ,is i have an ole soft spot , as it used to e my european camp for 2 seasons and i lived there for the 18months one of the happiest times in my life , my first set of kids learned to ski and ice skate there . you are correct , we did have a race there on and off in the 90s however tis race is a rebirth of those yrs with a difference , its held for and run by one of my old squadies that didnt leave when we did he became a local legend and so a great story there . it is a fantastic race , no place for the faint hearted tuff tuff day . lets hope it stays that way , triathlon needs it .

That's what I thought. And by all accounts, it looks like Cyril has done an amazing job. Like you say, hopefully it'll stick around, these types of challenging races are needed. I'm no climber, but I prefer to suffer through a challenge, than have a wet run.
