Anyone else seen "Warrior"?  It's up there as one of my faves, along with Rocky and The Invicible.

2 Thumbs up for Warrior, thanks for the reco! Reminded me of Doc's entire purse bet story

To add to the list,  Gattaca, old Ethan Hawke and Jude Law movie with a couple interesting swim races.  Pretty good spirit vs science story

linial rose ,
batam weight champion of the world
gave his money to his family and all his relatives back on the reservation ,
very sad

Funny story, I worked with the guy who played lionel rose in this movie as a bricklayer about 15 years ago after he'd done this movie.
The rumour was that he got half a mil for the role and that he threw a massive party for all his family and gave it all away then went back on the tools! Life imitating art?

Not sure if its 100% true as I never heard it from the horses mouth, but he was definitely back on the tools by 95!

One of my favourites is "Any Given Sunday" love the Inches speech  Grin

lional rose , what a sad ending to a break thru story for his community , was a terrific boxer , but was paired with one of the greats who went on to dominate the sport in his weight class .

I watched breaking away last night too. Good movie. It was funny when hes pacing off the truck doing 60MPH (100KM/Hr) and then it pans down to his legs and hes in the small chainring lol
