Hi Everyone,

I am so excited that I was able to qualify for Kona this past weekend. I am not sure how to effectively recover but not let my systems start to shut down. Any advice on how to effectively prepare for Kona in such a short turn around time? Thanks ahead of time for any input on this topic.

Hi "Murder13"

Congrats on qualifying for Hawaii!

Racing back to back Ironman is something I have done for a good few years now!  ..so it is possible!  Smiley

I would advise you not to rest completly at any time.  Since you qualifyed for Hawaii at Canada your body must be going ok, so just keep it moving, spend 1 week now doing easy and short recovery sesions then 3 weeks with some of your normal training.  And 2 weeks for your normal preparation into a big race,

Hope that is of some help,  See you in Kona!

Great advise from Bella. Back to training as soon as possible. I start with swim work and keep my bike rides easy and under 2h for 1.5 to 2 weeks. This is important, as I found that riding over 2h at the beginning extends time needed for recovery a lot. Run just on body feel, not too early. If running is fun again, not pain, body is ready for normal training.

Bella's the one to ask on this, I would just add to make sure you get some extra sleep when you are getting back to training and you'll be fine.
