Hi Bella,
Hope things are going good with your training, not sure if you'll remember me but we used to train at Upper Deeside in the dim and distant past and I was in Amber's year at Aboyne.
Anyhoo, I am now in Shetland and about to start triathlon training, and just wondered if you could remember your first few days of training and offer any advice to a total newb. I have the swimming bit sorted, the cycling I can do, but running.. its a bit like hard work. So any advice would be awesome!

How nice to hear from you!
I am afraid I cant put your face to your name. But I feel familier with you since you swam at Upper Deeside and went to school with Amber!
So your up in Shetland now! What do you do up there? Great to hear you want to do some Triathlon. It is a great sport to get involved with. You can get you fit all over if you work at it and you can meet some great people too.
I am thinking you are aiming at a sprint or an olympic distance triathlon first??
I would suggest you need to aim at swimming 3 times a week, cycle 3 times a week and run 3 times per week. ...and more if you want! The more you practise the better you will get!
I would suggest that one of these sessions in each sport is over the distance that you will be racing.
I would suggest you do some of your run and bike sessions on a hilly route, ..that helps to get your legs strong!
The other session you want to warm up into the session and when you turn for home, pick up the pace and go as fast as you can!
Thats some fine simple thoughts for you. (its actually best to keep it simple too!)

Simple is good, I like simple.
So far I have managed nothing, started with a back problem (not unlike my mothers) but I am still keen to get into training and get on with things, as training will help with the back but as ever the conditions I have to be careful.
My first two event are this summer and they are short sprint events, and 4 months away so I have sometime to get myself sorted out and even if I can't run fast by then I should have no bother covering the distance.
Will keep you posted with progress,
