I was just reading your post about dead man in the pool.
There's a discipline in diving called static apnea and it's about how much time can you hold your breath underwater. World record is 11.30 min  Shocked.

I was a surf lifeguard for 18years, and my brother is still on the local surf rescue squad, and you'd be surprised how often you grab a guy thinking he's out and the dude freaks because he's trying to see how long he can hold his breath for!

But I'd rather do that than do nothing and find out afterwards that he was drowning.  The motto of my local lifesaving club has always
been: "The greatest thing a person can do, is to save the life of a fellow human being."
