Hi Matt

Have been following TBB for a while and enjoy reading about everyones 'journeys'. They each have something about them that hooks me a bit.

Anyway I remember reading about kenya in your blog. We have some 'old' running shoes here, only 3 pairs but they still have life in them. I wondered if you knew of anyhere to send them? Maybe a contact that you have that would use them - I seemed to remember that you gave you shoes to a race winner? (I may be wrong?)

It seemed to make sense to give them to someone that will use them and is known to someone else - good karma!
Thanks

Hey Huggy Bear, awsome post!

Here are a couple web sites that you can guaranty, that your donated shoes will be given appropriately!

http://www.shoe4africa.org/

http://www.lornah.com/

During my time in Kenya, I quickly picked up that running shoes are for running! The up and comming runners, will walk bare foot or in flip flops long distances to the market or a friends hut because they dont want to waste their run shoes...They want to save them up to squezze as many running miles as possible!

Oh and they also hand clean their shoes every Sunday!

Given some recent research and running history so far maybe it would be better for them to keep running barefoot  Huh

Hey Huggy Bear

Here's a list of some recycling charities, some are based in the UK:
http://www.runtheplanet.com/shoes/selection/recycle.asp

There is also africarun.org, based in France:
Africa Run, 42 Rue Emile Leblond, 92500 Rueil Maimaison, France

If you can afford it, you can air mail your shoes to:
Shoe4Africa
c/o Monicah Kiplagat
PO Box 6943
Eldoret, Kenya

Ironman SA also has bins at the race for those people who want to donate tri equipment.
