they could develop into a hard arse ;

So doc, I'd be interested who you regard as the top 10 "hard arses" in triathlon, past or present?

one can only attest to the ones i have trained .
but stories of legendary effort ,comes in all quarters .
dave scott the athlete ,
molina
allen all had to be special peter reid i watched and saw him transform himself from good athlete to world beater
so that doesnt vhappen if your not a hard arse .
brad bevan  certainly
simon lessing very very dilligent man , a great
but their are many unsung ones
those in my squads knows the ones i have had priveledge to train
we all know the names of those that made it big
i have said ben bright should be recieving % from many of my champs that followed him
but i should mention just one
that did not get the bells and whistles but went from air head age grouper
to represent australia at world championships in olympic dis as a pro when australia had a womens team
of great repute
and she did it by cleaning up her act ,then training a body that had no right
beating some of the greats of australian triathlon
and she did it with just sheer hard  work in volumes that aprt from one or 2 has not been repeated
her squad  name and she was loved by all by the time she retired when
at the start every body said what is she doing here
old coach said i seen something in her , dont know what but lets give her a shot .
was" the sponge"
she too is the for runner and guinee pig which gave many athletes of lesser talent a living when they knocked on my door

deirdre grace

i salute you , and thank on my current athletes behalf
as i watch nicola take a great 2nd at the world cup
after being so sick
only the experience of training the sponge allowed me the confidence
to keep her  training
the sponge  showed me it could be done a long long time ago
so her and ben  provided the back bone of what i do today.

doc  I  think   your  article  about  chrisseie  is  really  good  and  I  think  you  are  very  right  so  far  this  sport  has  seen  v  few  really  really  outstanding  atheltes  as  we  are  still  a  sport  in  the  making. and  if  we are really  honest  triathlon  is  still  a  bit  of a  sport,  oh  I  could  not  really  make  it  in  one  sport  so  lets  try  triathlon.
one  question what  do  you  actually  rate  higher (if  one can  say  this )
allan   being able  to  do  oly  and  Ironman  togheter and having  won  oly  worlds  and  IM  worlds   or  chrissie  being  the  best  Ironman  the  world  has  ever  seen   but  given  the  age  she  started  would  not have  made  it as an  olympic tri  athlete (at  least  in  the  meadals...and could  have  would  have  dosnt  really  count ;-)  ?

and  how  far  do  you  think  chrissie  can   go   8.14   8.12 ..when  she  fully  matures  as an  IM  ?

if  men  and  females  keep  starting  togheter as  I think  it  would  be  very  hard  to  push  faster  if  she  was  racing  on her  own  which  I  think  is a  bit of a  problem  for the  guys   the  last  time  we  had a really  super  super  fast  race  was  when  luc  van  lierde  did  his  7.50  (and  only  cam e  into  the  lead  very  late  in the  race) and  there  was  2  other  guys  in  the  low  50s    and  another  i  think  was  7,56.
(when  did  we  see the  last  marathon  world  record  without  pacemaker ?)
I did  not  see the  race  but iam  pretty  sure  if  really  pushed  7.50  could  have  been  broken  in the  males....

people .
ironman is triathlon
itu  is wet run .
i am lucky to have my 2 itu girls and itu men that are real triathletes
i could train them if they werent
both has won long course alped huez ,both in the future will win an ironman so short long drafting or non drafting.
records , dont believe in them in triathlon , they have no place
women should have their own start.
chrissie doesnt have the bike skills for 2012 , but getting better .
so the time trial again depends on the course if its technical then no .
we should celebrate  ironman for what it is the tuffest real non stop endurance race on the planet .
she is the greatestfemale so far in it
isnt that enuff?
