Hey Quadzilla, like the blog post. I moved from East to West 15 years ago to get away from the winters, though we do still get some here in Vancouver. Rain mostly. How do you manage over 2 hours comfort wise. I can do 1:40-2:00 hours but after about 1:30, it's a struggle. Frankly, my ass hurts. Is it a saddle issue, i.e. a more comfortable saddle, or just getting used to it.

Thanks

Try changing into dry clean pair of cycling Knicks at 2 hours, and slap on some chamois cream or petroleum jelly which is cheaper and does the job. A dry shirt is nice too!

hey Mr. C-V!

the trick is chamois cream (I use Assos) and not just a comfortable saddle but a comfortable bike position. I lock myself down into aero position right away but it's the same position as when I am doing my 5hr TT outside. If you train yourself to stay in the same aero position while riding outside I find it's not so difficult doing the same thing inside. Depending on how sweaty I get, I usually have to change my top after 2 hrs and sometimes my shorts too, like Pantani said.

so I guess the question is how long can you stay in aero position when you are riding outside? if that's uncomfortable too then you might need to get a new saddle or tweak your position, or both  Smiley

Thanks all. Sure sign that I'm getting old, when Wongstar calls me Mister.

Wonder if young Brett gets called Mr. too  Smiley Smiley

I use Assos as well, so it's not chafing, just the sit bones hurt. My physio told me I have a small ass (he wasn't flirting or anything  Smiley Smiley so not much padding there.

Good point about aero, I was actually riding mostly upright, so that's what I have to work on.
