Hi All, Just wondering, i run at a cadence of 80, but i have been told that running at 90 would be much more benifical (sorry for crap spelling) for my Marathon splits, but i am having real difficulty raiseing it that much, i know its only 10 steps per minute but just dont seem to be able to, What do you guys think, also any thoughts how to do this? Kev

time and patience will do the trick aim at hitting 84 not 90 , too big of a jump . then once you mastered hat small step. then take it to 86 master it dial it in and then go for 88 same deal may take a season ,who cares , step by step litterally

I found a tempo trainer tucked under the hat if running outside, or a digital metronome on the treadmill very helpful.

IPod works just as well and more fun to run to.

I agree with Keith using music with the right beat can help get your cadence going. I often find in hard run sessions it reminds me to pick up cadence with my arms and legs.

Nothing to stop you listening to music of whatever tempo at the same time.. just needs a bit more focus.!!

If you have enough time to load up music with the right tempo, you clearly aren't training enough!!!

Hey Damien, tell my coach that will you? She might disagree and right know she is the only one I listen to.

Cool concept but there really is no reason to have aweful music and furthermore its not all that time consuming to put half a dozen songs (that YOU like!) that have a fast powerful drum beat into a play list that you shuffle and run to over and over and over.
I have 2...one for the turbo and 1 for the run sessions. When the songs get old, I make 2 more. Rinse and repeat. It helps make the monotony of training fun.

its one of my run drills run with ipod but the beat must be drum driven , and pounding away . not the shit that is out there today , im gonn .. your mother yo homey ...... im so cool , doesnt help the run at all , and some of what i heard when i grab an ipod just makes me laugh or if i grab xenas , well that makes me want to kill ,seriously so one needs to understand
you go back some yrs , and im not saying i like some of these but for americans the cars , one chord wonders but to run too magic its soft for the girls zz top just drill out , bang bang bang not so heavy . off spring green day new ac /dc ab after bon just metronome blink 180 or some thing
george thoroggod , for the english status quo every song the same , just gallops along .
and the old aussie bands , they just are the best run teachers of cadence out there, but people crowded house ladies , just doesnt do it . or those new day frank sinatra wanna bees . i hear when i take an ipod it makes you go slower . its in the back beat . thats the scoop
