Doc had a good go at us in the pool today. Seems some people were not following instructions very well... tut tut Wink But as everyone here knows, Doc only has our best interests at heart, which it reminded me of a little story I heard on a movie recently (actually the movie wasn't recent at all - 10 points if you know it!):

One day a little swallow was flying south for the winter when a big storm swept him up and sent him into the freezing high altitude air, freezing his little wings solid. Unable to fly, he plummeted to the ground and landed in a field, frozen stiff. A cow came by and walked right over him, dropping a large pile of dung right on his head. The warm steamy turd defrosted the swallow and revived him. He was so happy that he began to sing. A nearby cat heard the singing, pulled the little swallow out of the turd, cleaned him off, ...and ate him.
The moral of the story: Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy, and not every one who gets you out of shit is your friend. And if you find yourself somewhere warm and comfortable, wherever you may be, just keep your big mouth shut and enjoy it!

Hi James, I was reading your blog on the looong ride (5hrs) and the attached pix. Question.... Dont they have cars in Scobic(sp) ? How we would love that sort of traffic during the day back in good old PE! Hows the traing going for the 5th April? Should be a fantastic radce if we can just get rid of these pesky SouEasters! Hi Rob,
I think the reason you see no traffic in the photos is cos when there was no traffic was the only time I could take photos while riding (don't try this at home kids!). They certainly do have traffic here, and it is a LOT more erratic than PE! (I sometimes wonder why they bother painting lines on the road...) However the drivers here are much more curtious in general and you can actually ride without thinking about traffic for the most part - you are seen as an equal road-user, unlike in SA!
Looking forward to the big day on 5 April - back in PE in 2 weeks. You guys just make sure the SE wind has blown itself out before the race day...

ahhhh, but let us not forget about the:
- dog
- fox
- hawk
, and
- eagle Angry

all finding themselves to be followed up of course by the:
- vulture  Angry Angry

who will all owe their eternal thanks to little birdie. . . .  Lips sealed

or the rotten cow that will lend itself feed to 100+ vultures, vulture squabblings, and vulture defications. . . Grin

oh, and that the late worm will always beat the early bird. . . . Tongue

(there- with aide from our food web i unfortunately just managed to ruin the whole story- morals and all. Sad Huh (remind me to tell you the one about the native and the rattlesnake sometime. nbk i think. . . .)  Cool
