So, I watched Ironman Canada a few days ago on TV and saw Mary Beth win. I saw her at Yellow Lake when I was at the race. So, on the run, I see something I have never seen before. An athlete running with 2 water bottles in her racing suit!!!!Will this be a trend soon?

Not sure if I will be setting any trends.  But it was hot and I was trying to get in as many fluids as possible.  It is hard to get much out of those little cups.  I find having a full water bottle in T1 and at special needs at least helps keep me hydrated. I don't really like having a waist belt jiggling to this method seems to work a bit better for me even if it looks silly  Tongue

different for men and women
i am going to talk to team on this issue very soon .
my thoughts are if you carry extra weight it should be as close as your centre of gravitiy as possible
does females need to carry the extra weight
its disspreportianate  for men and women
1/2 q kilo  is not the same for both as mens strength quotients are much much higher , thuis use less energy carrying the weight then the girls
so its tricky to sell that i too find running for females with the now famous fuel belt a much bigger handicap
than for men , just as i believe a more streamlined camel back a much more functional option than the jiggling  around the hips apparatus .
but i will add this ,and i was going to speak to xena  about it next week .

carrying water or nutrtion in the shape of bottles in your hands
is a complete nono .

it totally disrupts run technique function , your hands dictate your rythem , and turn over of your legs

once i physically saw that i  was oh noi,
and the first bit of technique  we are going to change its a cadence killer at the best of times not when your dead but when your fresh ,
a bad miss by the coach .
a good arm action is imperitive at all levels of running   , what that means is not how you swing your arms it can take many forms but that you dont restrict them .
arms are very important in long distance running very very important

I remember reading about an ultra runner who found that the most efficient way (for him) to carry his water bottles was tucked into his armpits.  Not sure if that'd work for me though...
