The US system is convoluted.  London was an automatic, and 2 women got spots.  The men 'only' have 2 spots right now.  Hunter has a broken elbow and was kind of the hope for the 3rd spot.  Since no one qualified at London, the spots might now be discretionary, but I am not sure.

US team will come down to the WCS race in San Diego.  I think first american with a top 8 finish will get a spot and maybe two finishers in top 8 would get each get one of the two mens slots for the US.   However if no one is in the top 8, I think it will be discretionary based loosely on world ranking and wcs results. The last womens' slot should be exciting as Laura Bennett and Sarah Haskins will have to battle it out for the last spot.
