Hey everybody well we have had several Pacquiao threads in the past for obvious reasons!

This will be his 3 fight against Marquez.
The first was a draw and the second was a hard fought 12 rounds in favor of Manny.

Manny's last fight against Mosley, hes experienced leg cramps as early as the 4th round.
Some say he was over-trained and de-hydrated while others say hes to busy with various commitments!

Any bets?  Grin

Should be exciting! I need to study all the 24/7 coverage before I place any bets.  But I like Manny.

The Pacman seems really focused this time around and came to his camp in L.A. very fit.  I hope that you guys in the Philippines get to see those 24/7 HBO specials as they are great!  Go Manny!

I have a feeling that this one is going to be a much easier fight for the Pacman than the previous two were.  I think that Marquez's age and the step up in weight will count against him more than it will Manny, but in saying that, Marquez is a HUGE Frasier fan, and the passing of "Smokin' Joe" this week may well fire him up to repeat Joe's "Thrilla in Manilla" win over Ali.  I'm expecting Marquez to fight much more intelligently in this fight than the previous two, but if the Pacman does what he can/should, he could well retire Marquez with this one.

Just saw a quote from Pacman's coach, saying that he has been training with one target in mind: a KO win.

manny   style doesnt suit this guy at all and in fairness the first fight should have went to martinez i watched it 2 times
styles make fights
manny is a south paw and makes life very very difficult for all traditional fighters as most south paws dont carry power in either hand and the real good ones usually in one
but pac man is explosive with both add to that lightning quick , so a minute hesitation and he has bombed you and you didint even see it till the replay
martinez is also a south ppaw , play the same tricks as manny  and so doesnt get caught out .
problem is martinez small guy at the lower weights he only stepped up for the pay day
and he is older than the pac man
while he put on 2 amazing shows the last time they fought , age and the previous wars have caught up with him , and if pac man still at his best
he will knock him out.

i said before your man has a guardian angel ,
looks like he had 2 today
as i said he hates fighting martinez , he now has won 1 out of 3 .
time to retire  the best ever philipino boxing champ .
may wether will make him look old and out of touch as that is what he looked to nite
mayweather also a south paw , manny needs to fight  guys walking into his left hand , south paws dont do that .
cheers

Doc will love this!  So last night's fight wasn't show at any of the local pubs because boxing doesn't get it and wonders why their sport is dying...  They wanted $600 for any bar to show the fight, that rate fluctuates depending on the amount of seats in a each place.  Anyway, my local pub up the street, Used To Be's, used to show the fight as they had an illegal cable box but the cable company pulled the plug.  Now just 2 hours before the fight UFC showed their heavy weight title match on FOX.  Free TV for all in the states.  I was at a neighbors birthday party, everyone gathered around the TV at 9 P.M. to the underdog catch the champ with 1 shot then pound him out while he lie on the floor.  Complete let down.  So at 10p.m. we all head to the pub to watch the Pac Man but we get there to find out not showing.  So we start calling around and know one has the fight on...Unbelievable!  I packed in and went to sleep....

Hey well yesterday I watched the fight live at resto-bar in Nuvali.
I was surrounded by 100's of Philippino's who where happily drinking down the San-Mig-Light brews!

The tradition is, that when "the people" believe that Pac-Man has won the round.
EVERYBODY claps and cheers at the end of the round.
But when they believe he did not win the round, SILENCE!

And there was a lot of awkward silent moments...

Its clear that Manny's fights have a MAJOR impact on all Philippino's!
The atmosphere was very tense in the 2nd half of the fight and the people got emotional.

I was fearing that if he lost the fight, that there might be some riots!
Just like earlier this year when the Vancouver Canucks lost game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

What I saw in the fight, is that Manny's best rounds, where better than Marquez's best rounds.
Manny but in a superior effort in the 2nd half.
Versus Marquez who was much more PRECISE with his counter punching - what he did most of the fight.

Judging by his last 2 fights.
Manny is on a slippery slope now...
Which might be instigated by NON boxing factors...

In my opinion.
Manny should go "all in" and gambit to fight Mayweather NEXT.
To put an end any speculations before retiring.
Or simply retire now, since hes got PLENTY of non boxing opportunities to explore!
Like singing <--- okay this one is a joke  Grin

good read on it matt ,
depends if he wants the extra 50 million
i said retire for the philipino people , may weather too big too fast and to clever and being a south paw
manny will not enjoy his normal advantages .
the people will die a thousand deaths to see their main man lying on the floor , the nation will think its them .
he can retire undefeated as a champion
as he lost a couple earlz but no one even knows that
he started his career
1 win 1 draw 2 defeats .
but that why i think he is special ,he turned it around and became a great , the only thing people will remember is how he goes out .
but as matt said martineyz was the crisper puncher and he is 38 .
its time .
lets hope those around him realise it .
