Yes indeed, I could model thigh length boots should I wish (....maybe later?) but I reckon my body shape makes it tricky for me to find a decent fit on a bike. I am about 5'8"-5'9" but my leg length proportion is very disproportionate to my stubby little torso:)! So what I find is that when riding on a TT bike that 'should' be my size i.e. a small frame size - I end up over-reaching and sitting on the very tip of the saddle with the saddle as far forward as it can go (hence on going saddle extender saga in seperate thread).

I was wondering if this is just me or any one else expereienced this? Also whether some bike brands are more suited to the torso impaired (short of going to a tiny frame with 650C wheels) - I have heard the Cervelo P3C and co. are quite compact because of the reversible seat post changing the relative top-tube length.

Anyways, any thoughts, experiences (general mocking;)) most welcome!

Hi Andy
I'll start by saying that I am no expert in bike fitting.
What sort of bike do you ride now?  Size?  Maybe you could post a pic?
I think I've got a shorter torser comparative to my leg length (notice I use the word 'comparative', as my legs are still pretty god damn short  Angry), and I'm pretty comfy on my p3.  So maybe the bike models with the reversible seat post option would be suitable, if you don't mind riding a steep angle.
What about a shorter stem?  Or are your bars a one-piece design?

Hi short back!

Sounds like you need to shorten your reach somehow, getting further forward over the bottom bracket would be good.  Have you had any luck with that Saddle adapter?
I know your Planet X hasn't got a very steep seat tube angle.
I think the problem I have found with getting aero is more to do with back, gluets and hamstring flexibility.  A short back doesn't stop you getting low and aero but will just mean your elbows may get in the way of your knees a bit.

I think if you look at people like Graeme Obree or Bjorn Anderson, you can see that it is possible to ride in very extreme positions, for long periods, and producing lots of power, but I have a feeling they are naturally flexible.  But possibly the best stretching for riding in an aero position is too ride in that aero position (ohh contreversial).

Please post a pic, and make sure it is one where we can see your tatoo! Smiley

hi ,
mate , i am computor illiterate ,some people say ,just not the computor ,
when i say expert, i have to clarify that for triathlon ,
i get astonishing results at races .
i dont read no mags or  fall for the bullshit pedalled by all the tri experts ,who get no results on the scoreboard ,but got 8,000 reasons why it is not their fault , so if you want to talk , sweat , but i got to get some one to work out how i can do it privately
just want to apologise  for the time delay and why i wont do it here , as there will be 2 000 experts mostly doing over 3hrs for an olympic dis event  ,saying why tell him that  ?, his metertassle is connected to his right eye socket and so his correct position from the head stem is 82,035 cm from the tip of his nose , id he doesnt have a boogie hanging out of it, and only with this measurement , will he be able to ride with out his left knacker getting a cramp .
all other ideas , are based on myth and scietifically dont work .
i think you see my reluctance

I've always thought that, the best way to get my postion correct is to make sure my left knacker is an line with my right nostril, I hope I haven't been doing the wrong thing!

I'm sure Holly can show you how to send a private message.

stephen
it depends if you turn your head at 22degrees to the left when time trialling , also the size of the knackers , very important ,
if you like a ram then ,then its not the eye socket , its your right ear lobe .
but if you are like lance , then its not about the bike , right ?
