The Ironcouple took Ironman Lanzarote by storm! The proud parents picked up a pair of podiums both finishing in 2nd place on the iconic Canarias course. Facing the elements as well as a competitve field, Bella had an amazing race in her first Ironman since having baby Charlie last summer. While Stephen showed that his training is on track as he conquered the men's field finishing 2nd. Unfortunately, Dan had some issues on the run, but he will be back to race another day.
As expected, the course and conditions made for a very tough day from start to finish. But the tough conditions were all the better for the Ironcouple as they swam, rode, and ran their way to the podium.
Bella was very pleased with her race. She reported in that "I am really happy with my 2nd place here at Lanzarote, with the minimal amount of training I have done since having Charlie, I think this positive result is great for the upcoming races. With Stephens 2nd place in the mens race, it was a really great day for the Bayliss's! We are looking forward to a rest now and hanging out with Charlie, yesterday was long day without him."
Stephen was equally pleased with his 2nd place result. He said, "I really love Ironman Lanzarote. I love the Island and I love the race course. I was very pleased with my 2nd place finish. Victor Del Corral was stronger than me yesterday and a desrving winner. I did my best and was happy to do a decent swim bike and run on this very testing course here in Lanzarote. What made me extra happy was seeing Bella have a great first Ironman back and finishing in 2nd place, now we both need some rest and some time with Charlie before we leave Lanzarote on Wednesday."
