Today was a special day for the Wongstar, she won her first race ever! Conditions were less than race friendly, but the crowds on Jeju Island warmer and more charming than ever at the Korea International Triathlon, which took place over the Iron distance...

Jeju Island, just off the coast of South Korea, is a holiday paradise for some, but also serves as a TBB training camp. Ariel (pictured here with TBB stars), is the resident co-ordinator, and the Team wishes to thak her for all her efforts!

Although the race is no longer an official an official Ironman event, the race still takes place over the same distances and the same course of old.

Despite there not being a competitive field, the athletes faced the hardest challenge of all - the elements! Conditions were described as brutally hot, with winds in excess of those found in Kona (so they say!).

The Wongstar found the day a tough one, not because of the competition, but because of the testing elements! She had a great day, not fast in time, but still winning her first race ever, crossing the line with the usual Wongstar smile and with the adoration of the crowd!

Cam Watt also tried to repeat his fine performances of Ironman Japan and the Asian Long Course Champs - he had a strong swim in the choppy waters, then went on to post a very fast bike split, but unfortuantely succombed to the old achilles injury on lap 2 of the run. The men's race was won by ex-short course champion Jan Rehula of the Czech Republic.
