Amazing Results for teamTBB at the Laguna Phuket Triathlon

3 December, Phuket Thailand - Around 1,100 athletes from 30 countries participated in the 13th Laguna Phuket Triathlon 2006. This race consisting of 1.8km swim, 55km bike ride and 12km run, is considered one of Asia’s most important triathlon races.

For The Bike Boutique this was a historic moment with the soft launch of teamTBB. For the very first time teamTBB contracted pro athletes to a race in Asia and we could not have dreamt of a better start!

The men’s professional winner of the Laguna Phuket Triathlon 2006 was no other than 21 year old Reinaldo Colucci from Brazil competing for… teamTBB!! Reinaldo’s winning time was 2 hrs 30 mins 58 secs, which is the fastest ever time in the 13 year history of this event.

Equally impressive were the results of two other teamTBB pro athletes. Bella Comerford from Great Britain finished in 4th position with a time of 2 hrs 54 mins. This was an amazing result considering she won Ironman Florida less then a month ago and then became World Champion ITU Long Course in Canberra just 2 weeks ago.

With Stephen Bayliss finishing in 5th position in the men's pro athlete category in a time of 2 hrs 36 mins, the teamTBB party was complete.

Our fourth teamTBB athlete Rebecca Preston showed enormous grit by participating but had to pull out due to a leg injury. However, having won Ironman Austria and Ironman Switzerland earlier in the year, her 2006 season was amazingly successful. We wish Rebecca a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her at Ironman Langkawi 2007!

The Bike Boutique wants to thank all teamTBB athletes for these amazing race results, but even more for their passion and valuable input in our 2 day strategy session of teamTBB.
